Work from Home Ergonomics Tips from Dr. Henry

Hello Everyone

Dr. Henry here from TexStar Chiropractic here in Austin. We’re going to keep the at-home neck and spine health instructional videos going because they appear to be making a difference for you. Thank you, Ryan for our TexStar Chiropractic at-home neck care tutorial, and Mariah for our at-home lower back care tutorial. Today it’s my turn and I’m going to offer some tips regarding proper ergonomics while working from home.

I cover several things in the video that you can do to take better care for your spine and neck: Periodically change positions (and how to do this), take breaks, how to sit straight correctly, elevate your monitor, keyboard positioning, and the benefits of using headsets. It’s all easy stuff, so sit back, watch, enjoy, and hopefully learn a few things that will make a difference for you.

Don’t forget to take these tips with you when you return to your office or normal workspace. As always, if you suffer acute and/or systemic pain that holds you back from the quality of life that you deserve, contact us anytime.

At-Home Exercises For Neck Stress and Pain

Hello again from your caring team here at Austin’s TexStar Chiropractic. Given the warm feedback we received regarding last week’s blog post and video about at-home exercises for the lower back, we thought we’d serve up new video to address another common health complaint, neck pain. All of us here at TexStar Chiropractic understand the physical and mental stress associated with this pandemic, and that this stress can manifest itself into neck pain. In this video, Ryan, our lead rehabilitation technician, leads a short three-minute video depicting several exercises that you can accomplish at home and which hopefully will help you address discomfort within your neck.

These are exercises designed for both the young and seniors alike. However, if you experience pain while doing any of these exercises STOP. Also, if you are already having pain that is not getting better with basic home care, call us. We can either give you some other home recommendations to try or get you scheduled for a visit in the office if needed.

Greetings All….

Today’s blog post is a follow-up to our latest TexStar Chiropractic blog post regarding home care. All of us here at Buda and Austin’s TexStar Chiropractic miss you, and we want to make sure that during this time when gyms are closed and our normal routines are interrupted that you are taking the time to exercise and keep your core strong. Mariah, the Buda office’s lead rehab tech has put together a great video demonstrating some great home exercises that you can do every day to keep your core strong. Keeping your core strong helps to stabilize your spine which will help you prevent back pain but if you are already having pain that is not getting better with basic home care, call us. We can either give you some other home recommendations to try or get you scheduled for a visit in the office if needed.

Hi Everyone!

Dr. Henry, Dr. Tran, and Dr. Woods here,

First off, we want to let all our wellness care patients know how much we miss you and that we can’t wait to see your smiling faces back in our offices soon. This too shall pass, and we will be here for you when it does (or sooner if you need us).

Secondly, for our patients that are experiencing pain, dysfunction or on acute care treatment plans there have been a few updates to local health care recommendations which will slightly change how your visits look here in our office.

    We will be extending our COVID-19 safety procedures through at least April 30th.

    We are further limiting the number of treatment slots we are offering to enable us to maintain good social distancing in the office. We ask that your guests wait outside when possible or let us know they are coming so we can plan accordingly. We also ask that if you are early you call us before coming into the office. We apologize for any inconvenience.

    We have arranged specific treatment windows for our higher risk patients due to greater than expected demand. Our older and immunocompromised patients that are in enough pain to need care now can be seen with very limited contact from staff and no contact at all with other patients.

    Following updated CDC recommendations our treatment staff will be wearing face masks when distancing is not possible such as during your adjustment and hands-on rehab. We also recommend that you follow the local recommendations of wearing a face covering when you are out anywhere in public when maintaining 6-foot separation isn’t possible.

    We will continue the social distancing and sanitation practices that we have outlined in our previous email.

We want to remind you that if you are having pain that is not getting better with basic home care then call us before coming in and we may be able to recommend some other things for you to try at home.

Finally, remember that if you are in pain don’t wait until it’s unbearable. We want you to try home care first but don’t let a small thing that can be corrected in one or two visits turn into a bigger issue that will require more care or worse a visit to an ER or urgent care.
