Herniated Disc – Symptoms, Causes, Prevention and Treatments

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, June 23, 2020

Greetings all

Dr. Henry here from Buda’s TexStar Chiropractic. I recorded a short video that addresses some frequently asked questions I am asked about herniated discs. We treat people suffering from herniated discs every day in our clinics, so if you suspect that you have one or have been diagnosed with this condition we are here to help. In this video I cover a bit about the anatomy of a disc as well as some of the symptoms people feel when their disc has herniated or is bulging. I also cover causes, treatment, and how to prevent spinal disc herniation.

Now, I realize that this video probably answers some (but not all) of your questions. If you have a specific question feel free to call one of our offices and schedule a free consultation where one of our docs can address any questions you may have and find out if you are a candidate for the nonsurgical disc repair options that we offer. Call us to schedule or fill out a form on our website and someone will contact you ASAP.

First Time Without Low Back Pain in 25 Years

Joseph Coupal - Monday, June 15, 2020

Jason’s story is a great example of the results that we strive to deliver each and every day here at Austin’s TexStar Chiropractic. Our team all watched his video this week and when he said, “I’ve had no pain for three weeks in a row now, which I haven’t been able to say for probably 25 years” I looked around and saw our whole team light up. Chiropractic treatment for low back pain is usually very effective but we don’t always get to hear our patients talk about it the way Jason does. Listen to him describe how he worked with Dr. Tran to achieve a better quality of life that frankly he did not think was possible.

“Hey, I'm Jason. I just want to tell you about the fantastic experience I've had with TexStar and Dr. Tran. A long time of low back pain sufferer for like 30 years, more recently my neck's been acting up. And I came to see Dr. Tran, he fixed up my neck really good. And honestly, I had no faith that my low back would improve and behold, I've had no pain for 3 weeks in a row now. I haven't been able to say that for probably 25 years. So, I feel like I'm back to normal, a really great experience here. And I highly recommend these guys to everybody.”

If you know someone suffering with chronic pain please send them this video and help us spread the message so that no one else has to suffer for 25 years before getting help. TexStar Chiropractic South serves the Buda and Kyle area.

How to Properly Lift and Carry You Child in a Car Seat

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, June 11, 2020

Greetings once again from your friends here at Buda’s TexStar Chiropractic. This week’s blog will be especially useful for you or anyone you know who finds themselves lugging around a heavy baby seat with an even heavier baby in it. As chiropractors and parents of young children, we know the strains, aches, and pains associated with carrying around these big bulky car seats. Dr. Woods demonstrates a very simple process for you to pick up and carry your child in a manner that helps you stabilize and align your neck, spine, and hips. Equally important, it stabilizes your child’s “ride” and provides more control. This helped me to stop knocking over everything I walked past with the baby carrier.

Even with proper technique act of hauling around young children throws a wrench into your neck and back and can cause negative changes in your posture. As part of our commitment to complete spine care we provide some advanced approaches to balance and posture training here in our offices but there is plenty that you can do on your own to protect yourself as well. We treat lots of moms (and dads too) with back, shoulder, neck pain that in part (and sometimes in whole) directly relates to lifting, carrying, and placing children in car seats. Giving Dr. Woods’ technique a try is a good first step to improving posture and reducing the various aches and pains associated with carrying these types of baby seats. If you want to learn more about core strength, balance, and posture that will pay big dividends as your child grows, call our Buda's TexStar Chiropractic team anytime.

A Chiropractor’s Guide to Running Shoe Selection

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, June 02, 2020

TexStar Chiropractic’s very own Dr. Woods, DC, produced a video for all you runners out there. He explains how to select your most important piece of equipment, your shoes. Poor quality, poor fit, or improper design for you can lead to a host of problems that Dr. Woods describes in the video below. The tips for proper footwear selection that he covers are: how to properly size your shoe (and why this is important), selecting the proper toe box width, arch support, heel lock, firm vs plush construction, overall flexibility of you shoe choice, and when to replace your running shoes.

Our mission here at both our Austin TexStar Chiropractic clinic and our Buda/Kyle TexStar Chiropractic clinic is to improve our patients quality of life by providing more complete care. To us that means getting you information that can help to keep you healthy and on the trail. We hope that you are enjoying these short educational videos. Thanks, Dr. Woods, for these tips that all runners should take to heart. If you or any member of your family is suffering from jogging or running-related pain, reach out to us here at Buda’s TexStar Chiropractic.
