Headaches that start at the base of the skull
A headache that starts at the base of the skull and wraps forward after a desk day or a long drive can be examined at TexStar. The neck is part of that workup. A headache with confusion, weakness, or a sudden peak is an emergency, not a clinic visit. This is a neck exam, not migraine specialty care. Results vary.

The pattern that fits a neck exam
People describe a dull ache that begins where the skull meets the neck, often on one side, after looking at a screen or driving with the head forward. Turning the head may change it. The headache page and the neck pain page cover the overlap. Light, sound, nausea, or a one-sided throb can still be something else, so the history is not a formality. TexStar does not present this visit as migraine care.
Go to the emergency room instead if
- The headache is sudden and the worst you have had
- You have confusion, trouble speaking, weakness, or a fever with a stiff neck
- It follows a head impact, or it wakes you with vomiting
What the four clinics do with the ones that fit
The doctor checks neck motion, posture under load, and whether arm symptoms suggest a nerve. Care, when it fits, may include an adjustment matched to the person, including lower-force options, plus advice on the desk or the drive that keeps restarting it. MLS laser or spot cryotherapy may be used on an irritable area. None of that is a migraine program.
Book South Austin with Dr. Amy M. Ho, DC, Bee Cave with Dr. John E. Jacobson, DC, Buda with Dr. Ryan T. Woods, DC, or Belterra with Dr. Corey J. Miller, DC. Buda opens at 9am Monday through Thursday. The others open at 8am. Friday is 8am to noon.
Mention the $98 new-patient offer when you call +1 (512) 899-2228. Restrictions may apply. Care is drug-free and individualized. It may reduce pain and improve function. Results vary.
Common Questions
Do you treat migraine?
The clinic examines headaches that may be coming from the neck. This visit is not migraine specialty care. If that is your diagnosis, bring it, and the doctor will say whether a neck exam is still useful.
Which office is closest?
Southwest Parkway for South Austin, Bee Caves Road for Lakeway and Bee Cave, Cimarron Park Loop for Kyle and Buda, and US-290 for Belterra and Dripping Springs.
Will I be adjusted for a headache?
Only if the exam supports it. Some headaches should not be adjusted. Results vary.
