THE TEXSTAR APPROACH

Pinched Nerves

What Causes Nerve Damage?

Your spinal cord is a bundle of nerves that extend from your brain all the way down to through your spinal column. From each vertebrae, pairs of nerves responsible for different parts of the body branch off to supply your nervous system.

Damage to the structures around your spine can put pressure on the spinal cord itself or on the nerves as they exit. Nerves can also become entrapped farther out from the spine as they travel through other joint and muscle structures.

Pressure or irritation of these nerves causes burning, stinging, tingling pain and sometimes numbness or weakness. These kinds of symptoms are often called Neuropathies, Radiculopathies or Nerve Entrapments (such as carpal tunnel syndrome).

Here are some of the causes that we see most:

Bulged or Herniated Disc:

When the gel-filled discs between your vertebrae rupture or tear, the soft center can leak out of the disc and compress and irritate the nearby nerve. This can cause symptoms that range in severity from excruciating pain and loss of muscle function to symptoms as minor as chronically tight hamstrings.

Foraminal Stenosis:

When the small openings where the nerve exits from between the vertebrae get smaller from degenerative changes the nerve can become compressed.

Alignment Issues:

When a joint is not moving properly certain movements or positions can cause the nerve to become entrapped or irritated. Certain posture changes such as “forward head posture” can cause compression or stretching of the spinal nerves and producing painful symptoms like arm and leg pain.

With our highly trained staff, cutting-edge technology, and advanced treatments, you can expect swift relief and long-lasting results for your pinched nerve pain. Schedule a consultation today and receive a personalized solution.

The TexStar Solution

When it comes to pinched nerve pain, our TexStar doctors focus on removing the cause of the problem, which is usually the compression or irritation of the nerve root. We’ll do a thorough orthopedic and neurological evaluation to determine the type and severity of your pinched nerves, and develop a customized treatment plan for you.

  • Spinal Decompression Therapy Spinal Decompression uses a computer controlled traction device to reduce the pressure within the spinal discs which increases disc height and reduces disc bulges and herniations. By taking the pressure off of the compressed nerves and joint tissues we are able to substantially reduce the need for surgeries, injections, and pain medication use among patients.
  • Chiropractic Adjustments By restoring normal motion to restricted spinal joints we are able to see immediate reduction of local irritation to the nerve root. When a nerve is entrapped in the shoulder, elbow, wrist, or pelvis chiropractic adjustments have been proven extremely beneficial.
  • MLS Laser Therapy Our MLS Cold Laser uses specific light waves to penetrate deeply to damaged nerve tissue. This amazing technology not only provides immediate pain reduction but it also provides the damaged cells with the energy they need to dramatically reduce healing time. This technology has shown great results with both new and chronic injuries.
