THE TEXSTAR APPROACH

Disc Injuries

How are Discs Damaged?

Your spinal cord is a bundle of nerves that connects your brain to the nerves in your body. Between each bone in your spine (vertebrae), you have gel-filled discs that act as shock absorbers and “windows” for spinal nerves to provide energy. These discs can become damaged, causing lower back pain, leg pain, leg numbness or weakness, neck pain, arm pain, and arm numbness or weakness. Damaged discs seldom retract on their own because they are subject to gravity and under internal pressure. Learn more about bulging discs, herniated discs, pinched nerves, and sciatica.

If you’ve damaged a disc in your spine, you may be suffering from one of the following conditions:

Bulging Disc

The inner soft part of the disc bulges in the lower, middle, upper back or neck. This causes pain when sitting, bending forward or lifting objects.

Herniated Disc

The soft, center part of the disc comes out of the hard outer section, usually in the lower back. This can cause muscle weakness, numbness, or tingling, increased reflexes in the legs, changes in bladder or bowel function, or even paralysis.

Pinched Nerve

A herniated disc is pinching a nerve, causing nerve root pain with symptoms of tingling, numbness, weakness on one side of the buttock or leg.

Sciatica

When a herniated disk or an overgrowth of bone puts pressure on part of the nerve it can cause Sciatica. Symptoms include inflammation, pain and often some numbness in the leg.

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, TexStar Chiropractic has a non-surgical solution that will have you back to normal in no time.

Non-Surgical Decompression Therapy

While most chiropractic treatments are only aimed at relieving pain, we’re taking a different approach. At TexStar Chiropractic, we’ve seen many patients recover quickly and more completely with our Non-Surgical Decompression Therapy. This exciting new therapy relieves pressure on vital structures of the spine by reducing pressure inside the discs. This allows the body to actually repair damage inside the discs and other joints of the spine. Due to our approach, many of our patients have returned to a more active, pain-free lifestyle.

86% of our patients have reported relief of their symptoms and have restored their quality of life. Our procedure only takes 15 to 20 minutes, followed by chiropractic adjustments for longer lasting recovery. Schedule a consultation to learn if this treatment is right for you.
