Knee pain can be one of the most debilitating problems you face. It is a serious one because your knees, along with your back and feet, absorb a lot of force and weight. This is why knee pain can be very serious.
The problem is that most people believe knee pain comes from an injury to the knee itself. They conclude someone who must have done some kind of physical harm is suffering from degeneration and causing the pain. While this can be true, there are other reasons why a person may need knee treatment.
Your Back Pain
One of the biggest causes of knee pain is caused by changing the way a person walks or performs a physical activity, often compensating from an injury in another part of their body. Suffering from back pain is one such example. When back pain is so intense, a person walks or moves differently, which can lead to knee pain.
Instead of realizing there is a problem that needs to be rectified with the back, the person opts to change their life in such a way that causes pain and other areas. Now, they have problems with both their back and their knees.
Over the Counter Medications Are Not the Solution
Unfortunately, one of the primary ways people seek knee pain relief is by taking over-the-counter medications with NSAIDs. They see a commercial on TV or read on the Internet about how this can effectively eliminate pain, reduce swelling and they believe this is the remedy that will fix their knees. That is not even remotely close to being true.
These types of medications actually cause other types of problems for your body, like causing damage to your kidneys and liver if you have taken them for an extended period of time. It is better for you to seek the right kind of knee therapy to help alleviate pain and improve your ability to walk and move.
You Should See a Doctor
If you are finding that you are suffering from prolonged pain in your knees, it is time for you to see a doctor. Knee pain is not something you should hope will simply go away or believe that with pain relievers over a few days, you will be fine. Prolonged pain can be a symptom of a serious condition that may require surgery. TexStar Chiropractic’s Austin Knee Clinic is filled with experts at diagnosing, treating, and relieving knee pain.
