June 15, 2020Greetings once again from your friends here at Buda’s TexStar Chiropractic. This week’s blog will be especially useful for you or anyone you know who finds themselves lugging around a heavy baby seat with an even heavier baby in it. As chiropractors and parents of young children, we know the strains, aches, and pains associated with carrying around these big bulky car seats. Dr. Woods demonstrates a very simple process for you to pick up and carry your child in a manner that helps you stabilize and align your neck, spine, and hips. Equally important, it stabilizes your child’s “ride” and provides more control. This helped me to stop knocking over everything I walked past with the baby carrier.
Even with proper technique act of hauling around young children throws a wrench into your neck and back and can cause negative changes in your posture. As part of our commitment to complete spine care we provide some advanced approaches to balance and posture training here in our offices but there is plenty that you can do on your own to protect yourself as well. We treat lots of moms (and dads too) with back, shoulder, neck pain that in part (and sometimes in whole) directly relates to lifting, carrying, and placing children in car seats. Giving Dr. Woods’ technique a try is a good first step to improving posture and reducing the various aches and pains associated with carrying these types of baby seats. If you want to learn more about core strength, balance, and posture that will pay big dividends as your child grows, call our Buda’s TexStar Chiropractic team anytime.
